The Preschool Director is Lisa Higley.   Lisa has 15 years of experience in early childhood education and a bachelor degree in early childhood development.  Our teachers, Cathy Laux, Val Barndt, and Cindy Korpela, all have preschool experience.  Kim Wilde, Jamie Danielson, Susan Workman and Karol Miller assist them.   The preschool team brings a love of children and an eagerness to spread the Good New of the Gospel to the children.

Northville Presbyterian Preschool Facility

This preschool ministry opened in a new facility in the fall of 2003.  The rooms were designed with the preschool in mind and all new equipment has been purchased.  The preschool has the full support of the church staff, elders, and membership.  The program is flexible with opportunities for 1, 2, and 3 day programs.  The classes are small - no more than 15 students in each - so that no matter what the exact age or stage of development of any child, the individual needs of each can be met.

The preschool location, in the heart of downtown Northville, is a great advantage to the school.  We understand that the family and the school exist in a community.  We will expand the children's experience by walking trips to the playgrounds, bakery, theater, fire station, library, and other locations deemed appropriate by the teacher for each individual class.

Northville Presbyterian Preschool - and your child...

Our work with children is based on knowledge of child development.  Achieving success for all children depends, among other essentials, on providing a challenging, interesting, developmentally appropriate curriculum.  Optimal development is more likely to occur if children have opportunities to establish positive and caring relationships with adults and other children, benefit from adult guidance and assistance, and explore interesting environments with many things to do and learn.  The way children learn is through play, and you can be sure that if they are playing, they are learning.  Our responsibility is to set the environment to maximize on the potential for growth intellectually, socially, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Northville Presbyterian Preschool - and you

We respect the fact that the family is the center of a child's life, and we consider the needs of the whole family.  Parents are welcomed and strongly encouraged to establish a  "play date"in their child's class.   Sharing this preschool experience with your child will be valuable to you in understanding your child and seeing your child interacting in a group environment.  You will be having fun with your child at his/her own special place.  In addition, by getting to know you better, our teachers will get know your child better.
