YOUTH MUSICAL SHOWCASE:
Fundraiser for the 2010 High School Mission Trip |

This opening event of the Fine Arts Series 2010 gives you an opportunity to celebrate the
musical gifts of the FPC youth. Come and enjoy pianists, trumpeters, saxophonists,
flutists, vocal soloists, the youth bell choir, the GAP & APEX vocal choir, and be
amazed at the talent and energetic sounds of our youth musicians.
This concert is a fundraiser concert. All profits from ticket sales are used to
support the high school summer mission trip to Bethesda, Ohio. Each summer, the
youth of First Presbyterian Church commit to outreach by going
to serve those in need in other communities. This is a lifechanging experience for our
youth by building their faith as they serve God.

Come and take a musical journey as you enjoy various seasons of music played by hand
bells. The Detroit Handbell Ensemble concert will open with songs such as
"Carillon"; "Nocturne"; "Windscape" with its new conductor
Michael Burkhardt. It then will move to some sacred music for Holy Week and Easter
including the great hymn "The Strife is O'er" for bells and pipe organ. The
program concludes with rousing .,
African American Spirituals.
Performing on over 5 octaves of Malmark handbells and 5 octaves of Malmark Choirchimes,
DHE is established as an ensemble of musical excellence. Their dedication to mastering the
music composed for handbells will be enjoyable to hear and fun to watch!
The program will also feature the TeDeum handbell choir of First Presbyterian Church. The
two bell groups will ring together on several selections.

Victorian Fashion Show and Parlor Tea |

Held during Northville's Victorian Festival, this event gives
visitors a unique opportunity to view beautiful vintage gowns from the Victoriau era.
Pam Yockey, the host, is a local expert historiau who owns many, many period gowns.
She shares her love aud expertise of the Victoriau era as she hosts the show. Young women
serve as the models and wear exquisite vintage gowns. Guests enjoy tea aud sweets served
on china. A tour of the historic church will follow the show.

years in downtown Northville.

Visual Arts Show:
Sharing the Gift Within |
October 2-8
This annual juried art show and sale is a popular draw for artists from the
entire Metro area. The artwork is displayed for your enjoyment for one week in the
church's art gallery (Boll Hall). Approximately 200 juried works of art in various
media will be displayed.
A luncheon is served on October 7th and 8th so that visitors may enjoy the show and have a
gourmet lunch together. Luncheon tickets can be purchased in advance in the church
office.
No tickets are needed to visit the art gallery.
Luncheon tickets are $10.

Bob Seeley -
Boogie-Woogie Pianist |
October 10, 7:00 p.m.
Bob Seeley is a local and international legend in the world of Boogie
Woogie and jazz piano music. Mr. Seeley was "Captain of the Keys" for 32 years
at the piano bar of Charley's Crab restaurant in Troy. He's also been a regular performer
in the Ann Arbor jazz circuit. He has performed multiple times at Carnegie Hall, at the
Chicago Jazz Festival, and many other jazz festivals throughout the world.
Bob's CD collection includes titles such as: "Classic Boogie Woogie";
"Industrial Strength Boogie Woogie"; "Detroit Style Boogie Woogie".
The concert will be held in the church sanctuary and features the Yamaha grand piano. An
afterglow reception will give audience members an opportunity to meet Mr. Seeley. Visit

One of
the worlds greatest composers is undoubtedly George Frideric Handel. Born in
Germany, he became an international composer and resided for most of his adult life in
Italy and England. He is buried in Westminster Cathedral in London where a great statue of
him stands as an enduring tribute to this gifted musician. Handel and Johann Sebastian
Bach are two of the Baroque periods outstanding composers.
Handels most popular and enduring work is his oratorio based on the life of Jesus
Christ, Messiah. The Northville Concert Chorale presents this magnificent
choral work each December to a full house. The chorus is accompanied by organ,
harpsichord, and the Michigan Sinfonietta Orchestra of Ann Arbor. Professional soloists
sing the solo roles.
The audience will hear such Messiah favorites such as For Unto Us A
Child Is Born; And The Glory of The Lord, the Hallelujah
chorus; I Know That My Redeemer Livith, The Trumpet Shall Sound,
and Worthy Is The Lamb That Was Slain. The powerful Amen chorus
ends the oratorio.
