Stephen Ministry

Jesus says, "This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you." Loving and caring for one another is not just the pastor's job-it's something Jesus calls us all to do! Stephen Ministry is a ministry in which people with special gifts for caring can put those gifts to use in an organized way, bringing Jesus love and care to those who most need it.

In January of 2000 Stephen Ministry started at First Presbyterian Church. Currently we have four Stephen Leaders and eleven Stephen Ministers.

Stephen Ministers at our church have received 50 hours of intensive training in the skills of caring ministry. Stephen Leaders receive an additional week of intensive training. Each is asked to make a commitment for two years. Continuing education is an important part of our training.
